Warning Signs You’re Dehydrated Without Knowing It

Dehydration occurs when your body doesn’t have enough fluids to function properly. Thirst is usually the first sign of dehydration but is not always a reliable one. Dehydration is dangerous especially for older adults and children. Serious health problems such as seizures, blood clots and other complications can result from dehydration.

Dehydration can also happen if you don’t drink enough fluids during hot weather. Moderate dehydration can be treated by drinking more water or other fluids, but the severe one needs medical treatment. Also, it’s important to know the signs of dehydration because they may differ by age. For example, children can experience dry mouth, sunken eyes, listlessness or irritability while older adults can experience extreme thirst, dark-colored urine, fatigue, dizziness or confusion.

Drink more fluids and eat foods high in water (fruits and veggies) to prevent dehydration! If you are experiencing conditions such as vomiting and diarrhea you may need to take in more fluids. In this article you will find certain signs of dehydration—check them out!
