How To Combat Pandemic Burnout

How to know if you’re experiencing COVID fatigue:

  • You are feeling cynical and emotionally exhausted – Two common burnout symptoms include being emotionally drained and cynical about anything that happens around you. Even more, researchers have discovered that people who have especially worked in demanding environments during the pandemic have been dealing with these symptoms.
  • You are less effective on the job – Burnout knocks at the door when you’ve run out of personal resources. With that, you start going through self-doubt, and you lose the ability to focus on your work tasks. Researchers have mentioned that people with pandemic-related burnout started experiencing feelings of self-disappointment at work.
  • You’re experiencing a deep sense of anxiety about the future – Although it’s natural to feel anxious, with everything that is happening every day, it can be exhausting to be so insecure about your own future or the future of your community. Researchers think that this anxiety comes from the fact that you can’t predict when the pandemic will end. When this happens, people feel they have no control over their lives.
  • You are less willing to comply with health guidelines – As the pandemic continues, people have started to feel tired of restrictions, such as mask-wearing and social distancing. Unfortunately, by refusing to comply with these safety measures, experts say this will only prolong the pandemic even further.
