How to Get the Most out of Your Freezer During the Coronavirus Outbreak

Freezing herbs effectively

If you want to get the best out of your herbs and retain their flavor and texture it is recommended to chop them up and mix them with a little neutral-tasting oil before freezing.

As the herbs are delicate and risk freezer damage, by mixing them with a little oil it will prevent air from getting in, destroying them and their flavor.

When taking this oily mixture and putting into a freezer bag it is best to spread it out thinly inside the bag, so when it comes to using the herbs you can break off as much as you need and keep the rest still frozen.

Another technique using this oily mixture is to portion it off into your ice-cube tray so you can pop them out individually and use them when required.

Pesto is another great way to increase the longevity of your herbs, even mixing them together in different delicious combinations. Mixing herbs with butter and placing them into an ice-cube tray is another delicious way to get the best out of your herbs.
