This is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes the rapid buildup of skin cells. Approximately 7.5 million people in the United States have psoriasis. It occurs in all age groups but is primarily seen in adults.
If you’re living with psoriasis, you probably know that those scales usually develop on joints, but they may also develop anywhere in the body, including the:
- hands
- feet
- neck
- scalp
- face
Unfortunately, this condition is often associated with type 2 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, heart disease and psoriatic arthritis. Even if you’re not living with this condition, you should know a few things about it—check them out!
