Another overlooked symptom of hypothyroidism is sadness. In fact, low thyroid hormone levels are linked to depression. Doctors and health experts aren’t sure about the relationship between the two, but it might be due to the low energy levels a patient with hypothyroidism can experience.

Approximately 57 percent of men and 64 percent of women report depression as a symptom of hypothyroidism. So, if you’re feeling a bit down lately for apparently no reason like job loss, maybe you should check your thyroid.

No matter the root cause of your depression, it is not something to neglect! Talk to a psychologist if you’re feeling down.
