They are organisms that live off other hosts or organism to survive. There are three classes of parasites: protozoa, the tiny ones, one-celled organisms which live in the intestines, tissue, or blood; helminths that are parasitic worms such as tapeworms, roundworms, and thorny-headed worms; and ectoparasites, which are ticks, fleas, lice, and mites that attach or burrow into the skin.
Unfortunately, parasites can cause serious diseases and even death, but if they are caught early, the infections can be treated with medication. Knowing the signs it’s important, so check them out to see if you’re hosting one of these invaders.
