Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis that affects some people that already suffer from psoriasis – a skin condition that causes red, itchy scaly patches. In general, individuals develop psoriasis first and are later diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.

The most common symptoms of psoriatic arthritis are joint pain – which can start before the appearance of skin patches – stiffness, foot pain, back pain and swelling. Unfortunately, this disease can affect any part of your body, including your spine. Just like any other disease, symptoms of psoriatic arthritis differ from person to person and they can range from mild to severe. There are a lot of factors that can cause psoriatic arthritis, such as psoriasis, your inherited genes, your lifestyle and age.

That being said, medical experts say that there is no cure for this type of disease, but you can control the symptoms and reduce the risk of complications if you follow a special treatment and change your lifestyle. If you want to prevent joint damage, you have to avoid bad habits and focus on creating a healthy lifestyle.

To help you better understand this disease and to help you find healthier alternatives to bad behaviors, here are some things that make psoriatic arthritis worse. Read on to find out more info!
