Having Vitamin D Deficiency? Here’s What Can Happen to You

Many people don’t know this, but vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins that help our body work properly. Researchers say that vitamin D works like a hormone in your body, being extremely important for your overall health. 

You can get vitamin D from different foods, such as fatty fish and dairy products, or by exposing your body to sunlight or taking supplements. However, it’s quite difficult to get enough vitamin D from your diet. 

Due to the fact that this type of vitamin is very difficult to obtain, many people end up with vitamin D deficiency, especially because of certain diseases or various other treatments so they can’t come into direct contact with the sun’s rays. 

Unfortunately, vitamin D deficiency can lead to negative health consequences. According to Donald Ford, MD, a family medicine doctor at Cleveland Clinic, if you expose your face and hands to the sun for at least fifteen minutes each day, it may be enough to get the recommended daily dose of vitamin D. It’s very important to remember that you can get enough vitamin D using sunlight as a source even though it’s raining or snowing outside.
