Indeed, driving during episodes of hypoglycemia is dangerous because it affects coordination and sight. However, do note that hypoglycemia is a preventable state and people who know they will have it simply avoid driving and treat themselves.

Statistics show that diabetics are no less safe on the road than anyone else with significant accidents being attributed to hypoglycemia affecting less 0.2% of drivers treated with insulin.

  1. I see this as an encouragement for people with diabetes not to worry about eating sugar and carbs. I consider this an absolutely irresponsible statement!
    We probably can consider that it is not realistic trying to completely eliminate sugar and carbs, but a strong effort is recommended and should be made to reduce its intake to a minimum.
