The Power of Vitamin D: 4 Common Diseases It Can Prevent

Cardiovascular health

Earlier this year, some researchers from Ohio University wanted to analyze the connection between heart health and the levels of vitamin D. In order to determine the relationship between the two, they used nanosensors that allowed them to see endothelial cells (thin layer of cells that line our blood vessels).

Conditions related to the cardiovascular system, such as diabetes and hypertension can interfere with the health of these endothelial cells. Once they are damaged, you are more prone to develop a heart attack.

Thankfully, Ohio University researchers came up with a strong conclusion: vitamin D-3 can preserve and restore and health of endothelial cells.

As Tadeusz Malinski, study lead author and a professor of chemistry at Ohio University, stated, “there are not that many (if any) known systems which can actually be used to restore cardiovascular endothelial cells which are already damaged, and vitamin D-3 can do it.”
