8 Signs of Iron Deficiency You Shouldn’t Ignore

As the name suggests, iron deficiency happens when the body doesn’t have enough of the mineral iron, leading to low levels of red blood cells. This occurs because you need iron to make hemoglobin and, if your body doesn’t have enough, your muscles and tissues won’t get enough oxygen–leading eventually to anemia.

Iron-deficiency anemia is the most common worldwide. Common causes of iron deficiency include inadequate iron intake because of poor diet or restrictive diets, inflammatory bowel disease, increased requirements during pregnancy and blood loss through heavy periods or internal bleeding.

Whatever the cause, iron deficiency can affect your quality of life, so you need to know its signs in order to prevent or treat it. Check them out!
