Abnormal white blood cell levels often lead to a weakened immune system, resulting in frequent or recurring infections. Dr. Levis says that all leukemia patients are surprised when they hear their diagnosis because most of them are asymptomatic or experience mild symptoms that most people don’t associate with leukemia.

In other words, a small infection may be nothing to you, but it’s best to let a doctor tell you that.
