Pain or discomfort in the upper left abdomen
Due to an enlarged spleen, leukemia patients can also experience abdominal pain and discomfort. Dr. Levis said that he had a patient with chronic leukemia who had a part of the spleen removed due to spleen enlargement.
He also added that the pain felt in the upper left abdomen caused by an enlarged spleen hurts like heck.
Note that an enlarged spleen, a.k.a. splenomegaly, can also be caused by viral, bacterial, and other infections. Liver cirrhosis can lead to an enlarged spleen as well. So, if you feel discomfort in the upper left abdomen, it’s time to see a doctor.
