Shingles (Herpes Zoster)

Shingles is a viral infection that affects your skin, leading to a painful rash. This infection is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, a virus that also causes chickenpox. This condition can occur in any part of the body, especially on the left or right side of your torso.

People who have had chickenpox are more likely to develop shingles, because the virus remains inactive in your body and reappears over time, causing shingles. According to medical experts, herpes zoster can be a complex skin condition because, although it isn’t life threatening, it can cause terrible episodes of pain.

It seems that, once you have been infected with the varicella-zoster virus, this skin disease can’t be completely removed from your body, but you can reduce the symptoms and complications with a specialized treatment, and if you haven’t yet contracted the virus, you can prevent it with vaccines.

Hives (Urticaria)

Urticaria, also known as hives, is a red, raised, itchy skin rash that can affect people of all ages. This skin disorder appears suddenly and in many cases can be a reaction to certain allergens. The most common symptoms include itching and a sensation of burning or stinging.

As we said before, this skin condition can affect both adults and children and can appear anywhere on your body, such as the face, lips, tongue, throat and so on. Their size depends on the person and can last for hours, or even a day. According to some studies, hives are caused by a lot of factors, such as medication, food, allergies, bug bites and so on.

The main forms of urticaria are acute urticaria (hives that can last more than a few weeks and are caused by various foods, such as chocolate, fish, tomatoes, eggs, milk or nuts, meds or infections); chronic urticaria and angioedema (hives can last more than six weeks and the cause is difficult to detect). Unfortunately, chronic urticaria can be harmful to your health, affecting your internal organs, such as the lungs, muscles and gastrointestinal tract.

In addition, one of the most common symptoms of skin disorders is itching. So, here are some Home Remedies for Itchy Skin.
