6. You’re not that social anymore
Feeling anxious when trying to give a speech in front of a crowd is quite normal, but when you start to feel uncomfortable and nervous around friends and family, it might be a clear sign of social anxiety.
“If you find that every time you have to be around other people your heart rate is accelerating and you feel kind of flushed and nauseous or something like that, then that’s a different thing,” says Fisher. “You’re getting to a different level or consistency of how anxious you’re getting that’s not necessarily connected to a specific event or a specific threat.”
Talk to a psychologist about what you can do to cope with your anxiety. However, note that a simple breathing technique can help a lot when your heart rate accelerates.
