9 Conditions That Are Hard To Diagnose

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome – This condition will cause you pain in your belly area and changes in your bathroom habits that usually last at least 3 months. First, your doctor will try to eliminate lactose intolerance, celiac disease, bacterial infection, or parasites before deciding on this diagnosis.
  • Celiac Disease – This horrible disease makes your body believe it should attack your digestive tract by mistake when you eat gluten, some protein in wheat, barley, and rye. It usually causes diarrhea, fatigue, and weight loss, but you might also experience aching joints, rashes, headaches, depression, and seizures. The thing is, there are other conditions with the same symptom, such as ulcers, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. To get the right results, your doctor will have to do some blood tests and collect a tiny piece of your intestine to see if you have it.
  • Appendicitis – This disease appears when your appendix(the small pouch attached to your intestine) gets inflamed. The pain starts suddenly and moves down as it gets worse. You can also experience nausea, vomiting, fever, constipation, or diarrhea. Because its symptoms are similar to Crohn’s disease, pelvic inflammatory disease, intestinal obstruction, and colitis, sometimes it can be wrongly diagnosed.
  • Hyperthyroidism – When the gland in your neck, called the thyroid, makes too much of the hormone thyroxine, it causes this condition. You might feel nervous, anxious, or irritable. To speed up the diagnosing process, it’s best to tell your doctors about all of your symptoms, which can also include weight loss, racing heartbeat, or unusual sweating.
