14 Celebs Who Won the Battle Against Cancer

Mark Ruffalo

Type of Cancer: Brain Tumor

In 2001, Mark Ruffalo had a vivid dream that he had a brain tumor and it bothered him so much he decided to go see a doctor. As it turned out, he did have a brain tumor, but he didn’t tell anyone about it for weeks. His wife was pregnant at the time, so he waited to make a public announcement until a week after his son’s birth.

Ruffalo had successful surgery to remove the tumor. He told The Guardian, “The whole experience of getting close to mortality changed my perspective. I thought I deserved more, and I wasn’t grateful for all the great shit that had happened to me. After the brain tumor happened, I realized I love acting, I’ve always loved it, I may never get a chance to do it again.”
