7. Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Urinary tract infections are pretty common. And no, they aren’t contagious. Most urinary tract infections happen when bacteria (from the anus) enters the urethra accidentally.
Indeed, sexual intercourse can increase the spread, but as Dr. Mintz explains, it happens due to physical contact that contaminates the urethra, not from actual infection. He also added that women are more prone to get urinary tract infections than the opposite sex due to the close proximity of the urethra and anus.
