Christina Applegate
Type of Cancer: Breast Cancer
As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, Christina Applegate received regular mammograms since the age of 30. In 2008, when she was 36, it was recommended that she receive an MRI, and she soon learned that she had breast cancer.
Applegate received a double mastectomy and has since become an advocate for early detection. She founded the organization Right Action for Women, which offers free MRIs for high-risk women.
In an interview, Applegate said, ‘When I was able to find my cancer in the stage I did, my passion for wanting to do something for these women was beyond what I could express.”
