Is it true that the viral load in breakthrough cases of Delta is as high as the ones seen in cases among unvaccinated people?

This is a claim that is difficult to hear and even more difficult to answer. Why? Because it already caused tons of concerns in the past weeks. It basically suggests that the vaccines we have so far against COVID-19 might not be as efficient as we all thought.

This claim appeared after the CDC released a report that described the outbreak that took place in Barnstable Country, Massachusetts. In that situation, researchers tested infected individuals for a parameter that’s called CT.

CT indicated the presence of a viral RNA and is taken as a proxy for viral loads. Even so, there are many issues that complicate how we interpret these data.
